U.S. officials said that the Biden administration is expected to announce the sanctions this week, Bloomberg reported. Putin almost never speaks publicly about his family life but he has two daughters from his marriage to former wife Lyudmila Putina, according to the Kremlin. The EU and U.S. are weighing up sanctioning Maria Vorontsova, 37, and Katerina Tikhonova, 35. It is not known whether the president has other children, but some reports suggest he may have at least one other from an affair....

According to the Journal story, the program started after posts by influential Facebook users were flagged by the company’s automated moderation system or were taken down by its human moderators. Looking to avoid bad publicity, Facebook allegedly developed XCheck to allow well-known individuals to post whatever they want with little to no moderation....

After a brief illness, Lieutenant Gail S. Halvorsen died in his home state of Utah while surrounded by most of his children, the director of the Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Foundation said Thursday. “I know he’s up there, handing out candy behind the pearly gates somewhere,” Utah Governor Spencer Cox said of Halvorsen. Halvorsen was accepted into a pilot-training program and joined the Army Air Corps after the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor....

Gilbert Ray Postelle, 35, is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester on Thursday. Postelle, who was 18 at the time of the crimes, was sentenced to die for his involvement in the Memorial Day 2005 shooting deaths of James Alderson, Terry Smith, Donnie Swindle and Amy Wright at a home in southeast Oklahoma City. He was handed two death sentences for the killings of Wright and Alderson after evidence showed he chased the two as they were trying to flee and then shot them from behind....
