The video, posted from the account of The Red Moon Band, shows the infant sitting in his baby bouncer watching a video of Whitney Houston performing her megahit ‘I will Always Love You’. A caption reads “Wait for it…” as Houston nears the iconic chorus.
Just before the chorus hits, another caption pops up: “Whitney got him in his feels!” The infant is transfixed and begins to well up, appearing to become overcome with emotion.
From behind the camera, a voice says “It’s OK…” as the baby looks over, eyes brimming with tears. The infant then smiles, after being comforted by whoever’s holding the camera.
The video was captioned “Whitney gets me too” with a crying-laughing emoji.
What the videographer might not have known about are the health and wellness benefits that the infant may be getting from early exposure to music. Research has found that infant-directed singing may be effective in helping babies maintain composure and delay the onset of distress. Studies have also shown that exposure to music from a very young age can enhance a child’s speech processing skills.
More importantly, the video is utterly adorable—and this wasn’t lost on other Tiktok users, who turned up in droves to leave comments.
Rosie Elias Davidson commented, “omg is there anything more precious than this little angel right here” along with three crying emojis.
Another Tiktoker, cinabun231 wrote, “oh that was so sweet he really felt that in his baby heart”
Other comments noted how amazing it was that the infant already recognized the power in Houston’s singing voice.
“She was a once in a lifetime singer,” wrote choirchick0786, while arthHizz added “Whitney’s voice..sound of an angel. Even a child learning language can feel it.”
Tiktoker kyliejenkins758 had a different theory on the baby’s seemingly advanced emotional recognition: “This baby is an old soul who is remembering some pain. Love”
Some commenters related so hard, they even offered up recommendations for other Houston tracks that might provide the same emotional impact.
For example, windsgail8 wrote “Me too little dude me too. You should play her singing the National Anthem….chills for days.”
Newsweek asked @theredmoonband for comment.
