Thurston started the season as a controversial figure when she handed James one of her sex toys as an icebreaker. Viewers didn’t know how to feel about it, and the first episode continued to frame Thurston in a risqué light. But since, she’s grown to be one of the fanbase’s favorite contestants because she’s tried to defuse drama in the house.
While personalities and arguments explode around her on The Bachelor, Thurston has been applauded as one of the nice girls who will stick up for the underdog in volatile arguments. Her character, now fully on display as the season continues on, has been met with cascading praise from viewers everywhere.
So, who exactly is Thurston? She’s a 29-year-old bank marketing manager from Washington, according to her Bachelor bio. Obviously, from her daring Bachelor entrance, Thurston is also working to break down stigmas associated with sex, specifically regarding female pleasure.
Viewers can expect her season of The Bachelorette will be sex positive. We can see it now, a man stepping out of the limo to hand Thurston his own sex toy, just to continue the legacy she began. Thurston’s Bachelor bio also says her ideal date includes skinny-dipping, so we may even have Clare Crawley and Juan Pablo Galavis flashbacks when she takes over. This time, however, we’re sure Thurston won’t send a contestant home for behaving explicitly on screen.
Thurston talks about sex on her TikTok account, too, which may seem wild to those who don’t know what she is about. One of her most popular videos actually dives into the idea of having sex with a ghost. Thurston’s content is laced with comedy, as well as women empowerment, making her a great Bachelorette to represent the largely female audience of the dating reality show.
There’s still lots of time before Thurston will take over, but filming may begin soon. Usually, The Bachelorette airs in May and continues into the summer. And since the rumors are out, Thurston commented on the possibility of her being a Bachelorette already. On her Instagram story, she claimed the rumors were “news to [her],” so either there’s been a major slip-up, or Thurston is sticking to her non-disclosure agreement until she’s formally unveiled as the next Bachelorette.
You can keep up with The Bachelor until then at 8 p.m. ET Mondays on ABC.
